My inspiration for my video came from my friend, who gave me the idea to do “A Day in the Life of Alexis” because the topic of my blog is About Me. After choosing to stick to that idea, I debated between making my video of a typical day in my life or just recording throughout a random day. I made the decision to just make a video of a typical day so that my audience can get an insight to what my everyday life is like (which isn’t extremely exciting). Creating my storyboard really helped me visualize what my video was going to be like. It also helped me be able to fit my whole day, from when I open my eyes until I close them, into a 1-2 minute video.
I had my friend who gave me the idea record all the shots that I was in. Before recording, I always showed him exactly what I wanted in the frame and told him exactly what to do. We shot everything with my iPhone and then I emailed all of the videos to myself and downloaded them to my computer in order to be able to import them. Once I imported all of the videos, I dragged them into the project pane and put them all in order. Then I highlighted all of them, and unlinked them from their audio by going to Clip and clicking Unlink. After that, I selected all of the audio and deleted it.
Then, I looked at each clip in the preview pane and trimmed them down to how I wanted them by putting markers where I wanted them to begin (Mark In) and where I wanted them to end (Mark Out). After trimming a clip, I deleted the original in the project pane and replaced it with the new one. Once I was done editing each clip, I put them all together and then added effects. At first, I just put random ones in so that there was a variety, but after watching the video, I changed a few. I chose the effects by going to the bottom left corner pane, choosing Effects, and then going down to Video Transitions.
Once I was content with the video, I looked up royalty free music websites and found a song on http://www.bensound.com where the music is free as long as you give him credit. For my end credits, I went to Title > New Title > Default Roll, centered the title, and put who it was directed by (me), who it was filmed by, and gave credit for the music. I also added a still title for the beginning of my video.
All About Alexis 
I really liked the idea, and organization of your video. Here are some suggestions: You should consider doing a shot in a class room, walking on campus. Also I would maybe add text to each place you go, or talk about what you do there. I think you had really smooth transitions, and the music was a nice touch. I would take out one of the shots where you are looking in the freezer because i personally thought the second transition at the same shot was awkward. I liked how you ended the video with netflixs and how it transitioned out. You did an awesome job, and I think you are really really close to your final video 🙂

Hi Alexis—great job with your draft video assignment. You did good job of explaining the process you went through in premiere. Your blog post was super detailed so I was able to know exactly what you did to create your video. Your video is already really good so it was hard finding anything to critique, but one suggestion I have is making the ending credit that says “directed by: Alexis Silva” stay on the screen for just a longer. The rolling credits look really good, but it was hard to read the first line before it disappeared off the screen. Another suggestion I have is to make the title and the ending credits a little more unique. Perhaps you could add a border, or make them a different color. It would also be cool if you added some narrative, like talking about what you’re doing in each segment. Keep up the good work and good luck with your final draft!

Alexis, I thought you did a really great job on your project! I love the idea behind the video and I like how well you explained your process as well. The video shows a great way how you spend your day. I like the music as well. The transitions were used nicely. One suggestion I would would to be to make a voiceover and explain to the audience the details about your day just to add a little something to the video. I think you’re really close to your final draft!

Alexis! This is awesome. Although as you said its not extremely exciting (Neither is mine haha) as far as videos go, it certainly completes all requirements regarding the assignment, and i thoroughly enjoyed your draft. I like the idea of communicating each and every detail of the shot to the camera operator prior to filming it, and i think your organization shows through in many many ways. Your music is awesome, not too slow and not too serious where it distracts. I think adding a title at the beginning as well as at the end will enhance your video. I also agree with you that having the credits at the end stick just a bit longer especially for your name would help as well. I think your video is super well thought out and put together, and for that reason, i think your final draft will be nothing short of amazing! Keep it up.

I was actually surprised by the amount of positive feedback that I received. I was pretty happy with my draft with all the footage that I had but I knew I definitely want to add more. One of my suggestions was to add me in class and walking on campus which is something that I had already planned on doing for my final. Another suggestion that I am definitely going to put into my video is making the credits go a little bit slower so that they are more visible. One suggestion that I received more than once is to do a voice over and say what I’m doing for each shot, but I’m not quite sure if I’d like to do that because I feel like it’s kind of pointless to have me saying “here’s me doing this”. If I decide to do a voiceover, I’ll probably try to add in some humor so that it’s not boring. With these suggestions and more ideas popping in mind, I’m excited to see my final draft!
